(Washington, D.C. December 17, 2008). Larry Klayman, who as founder and chairman of Judicial Watch obtained a court ruling that Bill Clinton committed a crime when he released the Privacy Act protected files of Kathleen Willey, a woman he harassed in the Oval office, is now the chairman of Freedom Watch, a public interest group that fights for government ethics and freedom.
Freedom Watch, whose “Dream Team” consists of the prior regional directors of Judicial Watch, has entered the fray in the Illinois Gubanatorial scandal over the attempted sale of Barack Obama’s Senate seat for $500,000 to the son of Jesse Jackson, Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr.
To begin the investigation, Freedom Watch has requested copies of any and all communications between Barack Obama, his campaign and the Illinois Governor’s office.
It was a simple FOIA request like this which resulted in Klayman triggering what at the time was perhaps the biggest scandal in American history, the so called Chinagate scandal during the Clinton administration.
“It is logical that President elect Obama and his staff played a role in the selection of his successor as U.S. Senator in the state of Illinois. It is also logical that Jesse Jackson, Jr. was a likely choice, in order that the Obama campaign could silence the Congressman’s father during the general election campaign, when Jesse Jackson Sr. viciously attacked Obama on Fox News. There is a high probability of a quid pro quo — choose Jackson, Sr.’s son as the next U.S. Senator from Illinois and Jackson will not try to harm Obama’s campaign for President,” stated Klayman.
Freedom Watch will take aggressive action to get to the bottom of the scandal, as Klayman did as chairman of Judicial Watch. U.S.Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, a very political animal who tries to scratch the back of both political parties, cannot be trusted. In the Valerie Plame scandal, he “burned” a bit player operative, like Scooter Libby, but let the major offenders, who could influence his future career, like Karl Rove and Vice President Dick Cheney, get off scot free. “Freedom Watch will not rest until everyone who played a role in this outrageous scandal is held accountable,” added Klayman.
