WASHINGTON, Jan. 10, 2011 /Standard Newswire/ — Today, Larry Klayman, founder of Judicial Watch, Freedom Watch, and himself a U.S. Senate Candidate in 2004, issued the following statement:
-
“Predictably, Keith Olbermann, the ultra-leftist vitriolic MSNBC television host of ‘Countdown,’ has used the tragic Giffords assassination attempt to blame the so-called ‘vitriol’ of Tea Partiers, Sarah Palin, Fox News and other conservatives for the shooting. Rather than looking to the policies and actions of the left for contributing to the revolutionary mood of the country, Olbermann wasted no time in cynically using the tragedy to continue his attack on the right for questioning and opposing the socialist policies of the Obama administration and the complete disconnect of the government as a whole from the American people. As in the years leading up to 1776, the government has under successive presidencies and Congresses ignored the grievances of the people, but Olbermann refused to look to the government to blame for this tragedy. Instead, he blamed ‘We the People’ through attacking the popular Tea Party movement and others.
“Ironically, the attempted assassination of Gabrielle Giffords benefits Olbermann’s agenda to politically ‘assassinate’ the Tea Party, Sarah Palin, Fox News, and other conservatives. Importantly, Olbermann was suspended by NBC last year for unethically donating monies to the political campaign of Gabrielle Giffords.
“Olbermann and his leftist comrades have attributed both Giffords’ support for Obamacare and her opposition to Arizona’s anti-illegal immigration law as the motive for the shooter’s attempted assassination of her and, in this regard, Olbermann suggested over the weekend that there is a connection between the Tea Party’s, Palin’s, Fox News’ and conservatives’ opposition to these policies and actions. Olbermann seemed to suggest in his commentary that these entities, and in particular Sarah Palin, are responsible for and thus should be investigated for the shooting.
“If the Tea Party, Palin, Fox News, and other conservatives should be investigated in connection to the shooting, then one has to ask who stood to benefit most politically from the attempted assassination? True to their unprincipled past, this shooting was enough to send House Republicans into a panicked retreat from this week’s planned vote to repeal Obamacare. And with Olbermann’s fixation on Giffords — even to the extent of funding her last campaign — given an obvious motive, should Olbermann be a focus, by his own standards, for investigation by authorities in the assassination attempt?”, concluded Klayman.
