WASHINGTON, Jan. 11, 2011 /Standard Newswire/ — Larry Klayman, founder of Judicial Watch and Freedom Watch and himself a U.S. Senate candidate in 2004, issued the following commentary in the wake of leftist claims that the alleged vitriol of the Tea Party, Sarah Palin and other conservatives were the cause of the Arizona massacre and the attempted assassination of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.
“The left conveniently forgets the seminal act that led to the creation of this nation; the Declaration of Independence. In 1776, the Founding Fathers declared our independence and proclaimed that force may be appropriate — as a last resort — to remove a non-representative government when the sovereign fails to take into account and dismisses the grievances of the people, in order to replace it with a new government responsive to the needs of the people. Indeed, that was the primary reason for the inclusion of the right to bear arms in the Second Amendment to the Constitution. All authoritarian regimes in world history, including the German Nazi and current neo-Nazi Iranian Islamic regimes, have confiscated and banned guns so their despotic control of the people cannot be challenged. The Second Amendment exists precisely to prevent the government’s authoritarian control over the people.
“While I do not advocate violence, the hard fact is that the government, under both Democrats and Republicans, has ignored the will and grievances of its citizens over the last several administrations, to an extent never before experienced in our nation’s brief history. In this context, it is no wonder that “We the People” are angry.
“In recent columns in www.worldnetdaily.com and posted on www.freedomwatchusa.org I predicted that violence would break out because the government has broken away from the American people. Regrettably, we are on the verge of revolution — and the free speech and protestations of the Tea Partiers, independents, libertarians, conservatives, people of faith and conscience, and others who believe in freedom is not the cause, despite the canard of the left. Clearly, the government has brought this sad state of affairs on itself and the Republic. Unfortunately the leftist media, and in particular MSNBC, is choosing to cleverly pervert the meaning of this event for commercial purposes by trying to inhibit or even shut down its more highly-viewed competitors, such as Fox News, while simultaneously chilling the ability of the citizens to express themselves.
“The shots fired in Arizona may regrettably be only the first shots in the coming revolution, which will be accelerated if the left succeeds at putting a chilling effect on strong verbal dissent. For if free speech and strong verbal expression is no longer permitted or acceptable, what safety valve will there be to let off the steam that has built-up among the masses, which thus far has prevented widespread violence?”, stated Klayman.
