Joe Kennedy III (D-MA) delivered what’s probably the best entry in the genre that I’ve ever heard Tuesday night. I couldn’t put my finger on exactly what I liked best about it until I read an anonymous Republican snarking about it. Continue Reading…..

Despite the fact that Trump himself has said he is “looking forward” and would “love to” meet with Mueller, he did say any interview would be “subject to my lawyers,” who believe that Trump should not be required to do that. When an explosive report from the New York Times on Thursday revealed that Trump had tried to fire the special prosecutor last June, Trump-friendly commentator and “final hole of the world’s worst putt-putt course” Sean Hannity changed his on-air tack so fast it gave Colbert whiplash. Surveillance memo vote triggers war of words on Capitol Hill By Adam Shaw Fox News January 30, 2018 The House Intelligence Committee’s Monday vote to release a classified memo on purported government surveillance abuses has touched off a war of words between Democrats and Republicans, with both sides unloading their rhetorical guns as time ticks down to the memo’s likely publication. President Trump has five days to decide whether he has any objections to the release, but signs point to him allowing it. The document was pushed by Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., and other GOP committee members.…
Don Lemon On Low Black Unemployment: “Thanks, Obama” Real Clear Politics January 30, 2018 Don Lemon discussed the dropping black unemployment rate with an all-black, Democratic Congressmember panel on Monday night. Lemon brought up Jay-Z’s recent interview with Van Jones where he dismissed that a change in black unemployment doesn’t matter because money doesn’t bring happiness. Trump responded to the hip-hop artist in a tweet the next day: “Somebody please inform Jay-Z that because of my policies, Black Unemployment has just been reported to be at the LOWEST RATE EVER RECORDED!” Continue Reading…..
Rod Rosenstein Is Shirking His Duty to Supervise Robert Mueller By Andrew C. McCarthy National Review January 29, 2018 If Mueller wants to interview the president, he should be required to demonstrate that there is strong evidence the president has committed a crime, and that the president has essential evidence of the crime that cannot be obtained from any other source. It is Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s job to force Mueller to make that showing. That duty trumps whatever “hands off” promises he may have made to Democrats. If the Justice Department will not supervise its prosecutors,…

According to the Times, which cited three people familiar with the memo, the FBI and Justice Department’s application was based partially on research by investigator Christopher Steele, who compiled a dossier containing unverified claims about President Trump’s ties to Russia.
